Building Dreams: Harper’s Accessible Bathroom Makeover
At Cancos Tile & Stone, we believe that design has the power to change lives. That belief came to life in a very special way when we partnered with Sunshine on a Ranney Day (SOARD) to help create an accessible bathroom remodel for Harper, a young girl born with Pitt-Hopkins Syndrome.
Harper is a bright, joyful child who faces daily challenges due to her rare genetic condition, which impacts motor skills and communication. One of the biggest hurdles for her family was their bathroom; getting in and out of the tub safely was a constant struggle, often requiring her parents to lift her. Knowing that Harper will require lifelong care, the goal was to give her and her family a safe, functional, and spa-like accessible bathroom that would support her needs for years to come.
Thanks to an incredible team of partners, Harper’s bathroom was transformed into a haven of accessibility and beauty. The design, led by Construction Resources’ Design Studio Manager, Ariana Pecoraro, drew inspiration from Harper’s love of water. With generous contributions from industry leaders, including Kohler, Bell Cabinetry, Cambria, Top Knobs, and Cancos Tile & Stone, the bathroom became a stunning example of what can happen when companies come together for a cause greater than themselves.
Cancos was proud to donate the gorgeous bathroom tile that brought the space to life, creating a sense of serenity while ensuring durability and ease of maintenance for Harper’s family. This wasn’t just a remodel; it was a collective act of care and compassion.
Beyond the materials and craftsmanship, this project highlighted the true power of community. From corporate sponsors like the Beazer Homes Foundation and Rexel Foundation to the dedicated volunteers who rolled up their sleeves, every contribution mattered. Even the finishing touches, from custom vanities to celebratory cotton candy sculptures, made the reveal day unforgettable.
Harper’s new bathroom is more than just a room. It’s a place of safety, independence, and joy. And it serves as a reminder of what’s possible when businesses, nonprofits, and communities unite with a shared purpose: to make lives better.
At Cancos Tile & Stone, we’re honored to be part of this transformation and proud to continue supporting accessible design projects that bring hope, function, and beauty into homes.
